Komen Grants Awarded to Chabert for $60,200

Debbie Picou, Case Management Director is Debbie Picou, RN
very pleased to announce that LJCMC has been awarded three Komen Grants for our breast cancer patients benefit. The Bayou Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation has awarded $2,750.00 for Breast Cancer Education (Pink Link Grant) and $27,500.00 for breast prosthesis, bras, medications, wigs & head dress, nutritional needs, and transportation assistance for our uninsured and under-insured Breast Cancer patients (On Her Side Grant). We were extrememly pleased when a third grant was awarded for $29,950 to purchase a portable ultrasound unit requested by Dr. Michael GPink Ribbonarcia and Dr. Thomas Weed.  The purpose is to afford patients the opportunity to have a breast biopsy performed in a clinic setting rather than requiring a visit to the OR.  Prevention and early detection are the keys to success in the fight against breast cancer.  Chabert staff is grateful for the Komen grants and will look forward to supporting the Komen Foundation in October at the Race for the Cure event during Breast Cancer awareness month.
