IRB

Currently, all the proposed clinical research studies/ sponsored projects at Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center are subject to approval of the local Institutional Review Boards (IRB) of either Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (New Orleans) or Ochsner Clinic Foundation (New Orleans). These local IRB's perform critical oversight functions for research conducted on human subjects that are scientific, regulatory and ethical.

Each participant of clinical studies is mandated for completion of an online training offered by “Collaborative IRB Training Initiative” (CITI) program and registration with Electronic Research Study Application (ERSA) system on Ochsner Clinic Foundation’s website, prior to submission of an IRB application.
