Did you know...?
On August 24, 1937, the state purchased St. John Hospital on St. Mary Street in Lafayette for $50,000 from its owner, Dr. O.P. Daly. The hospital was designated as a provider of last resort for Southwest Louisiana and the Legislature named the newly acquired facility the Lafayette Charity Hospital.
