UMC’s Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical care to in-patients and out-patients on a 24 hour per day, 7 day week basis with a staff of licensed pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians and an administrative coordinator specializing in pharmacy purchasing.
The pharmacy staff works in partnership with hospital professional staff, patients and their families to provide quality care.
Pharmacists provide monitoring of anticoagulant medications, dosing of antimicrobial agents, recommendations for therapeutic interchanges based on the approved hospital formulary and
preparation of oncology infusions.
In addition, UMC currently the site for all Remote Order Entry Services for the division, providing order entry for Lallie Kemp, LJ Chaubert, WO Moss Regional, EK Long, and Bogalusa Medical Center.
UMC operates a Retail Pharmacy to serve hospital patients. The Retail Pharmacy is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.
The UMC Retail Pharmacy staff works with the Patient Assistance Program to ensure that our patients are able to participate in appropriate programs that provide free or reduced cost medications to qualifying patients.
