UMC Foundation Names Stellingworth Physician of the Year, Conde Nurse of the Year

Lafayette -- The University Medical Center Foundation has named Dr. Mark Stellingworth its 2010 Physician of the Year and Francis “Frank” Conde, RN, its 2010 Nurse of the Year.

Each year the Foundation honors a member of the medical staff and a member of the nursing staff for outstanding service to UMC.

“We hold Dr. Stellingworth and Mr. Conde in high esteem. Their daily contributions to UMC add greatly to the value of UMC to the individual patient in particular and to the community in general,” said Larry Dorsey, UMC Hospital Administrator.

Dr. Stellingworth is UMC Director of Diagnostic Cardiology and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He has held a Fellowship in Cardiology at the LSU HSC New Orleans Department of Internal Medicine Section of Cardiology, where he was also Chief Fellow. A graduate of the LSU HSC New Orleans School of Medicine, he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at LSU HSC New Orleans, where he was Chief Resident and Internal Medicine Resident of the Year.

He has also been a contributor to Prime Reviews in Internal Medicine Audio CD Series and a coauthor of research findings that have appeared in the American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of Investigative Medicine, and Journal of the Louisiana State Medical Society.

With UMC since 2000, Mr. Conde has served in ICU/Telemetry and is currently RN Manager. He also has critical care registered nurse certification. Besides serving as charge nurse, his experience includes intensive care, emergency department, and medical surgical nursing.

Mr. Conde graduated from LSU-Eunice with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
