Center staff includes Heidi Huber, NP, and Dr. Marcelle Rousseau.

"The introduction of basic health care facilities to Columbia Parc at the Bayou District represents another step toward the completion of our holistic place based redevelopment model. We expect to expand services and facilities as our great partnership with LSU Health evolves and grows in the coming years," said Gerard W. "Gerry" Barousse, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bayou District Foundation.

The Bayou District neighborhood sits between Bayou St. John and the London Ave. Canal.

The health center accepts Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance. Everyone who seeks treatment will receive treatment, regardless of the ability to pay at the time of care. Some may qualify for discounts and/or free care based on income.

Health-center hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For appointments, call 504.940.8236.

Besides speakers and tours of the mobile health center, the December 8 grand opening ceremony, at the Columbia Parc Clubhouse, a block from the health center, featured a health fair with diabetes risk screen, blood pressure testing, free flu shots, scheduling for primary care appointments and information on access to primary care.
