Lallie Kemp Foundation Hosts First Annual Family Fall Festival

Independence The Lallie Kemp Foundation will host the first annual Family Fall Festival on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Independence, La., on East Railroad Avenue.

A highlight of the festival will be the Louisiana Wild Game Cook-Off featuring only Louisiana wild game. All dishes will be cooked on the festival grounds.

From 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., Don Dubuc will broadcast from the Independence Town Hall, on WWL 870 AM and WWL 105.3 FM, the "Outdoors Show with Don Dubuc" and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., on ESPN 1350 AM, "More Outdoors with Don Dubuc," featuring the Lallie Kemp Foundation Family Fall Festival and its sponsors.

The one-mile Run/Walk begins at 10:30 a.m. at Highway 51 and E. 6th Street, near the Independence police station. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Music begins at 11:30 a.m. with Razn Kane, followed by Eli Seals at 1 p.m. and Lindsey Cardinale, at 2:30 p.m.

Winners of the 2011 Louisiana Wild Game Cook Off will be announced at 3:45 p.m.

Music resumes at 4:15 p.m. with TK and All the Right Pieces. Al Toups, also known as Bayou Wolfman, will serve as music MC.

Besides food and drink booths, music and the cook-off, the festival will feature inflatables and games for the kids, arts and crafts, and a silent auction.

Proceeds from the festival benefit the Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center (LKRMC). The Lallie Kemp Foundation purchases much needed hospital equipment and provides financial support to LKRMC healthcare efforts.
