Independence Louisiana Life magazine has named Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, in Independence, La., a top Louisiana hospital. The magazine's July/August issue places LKRMC in its premier category of "Top Hospitals Overall" in the state.

LKRMC also made the elite "Top 10 in Louisiana for Prostatectomy in 2011." In the category of "Awards by Region and by Hospital," LKRMC was in the top ten for prostatectomy for the "Baton Rouge and Plantation Country" region as well.

Dr. Charlie Bridges, LKRMC urologist, is responsible for the delivery of this high-caliber prostatectomy healthcare.

"Being recognized as a top hospital is a reflection of our staff's day-to-day dedication to our patients and also a reflection of the high level of expertise they bring to Lallie Kemp," said Sherre Pack-Hookfin, LKRMC CEO. "This recognition is evidence of the quality healthcare we provide."

The magazine depends on Healthgrades, a health-research company, for the ranking. Healthgrades emphasizes specialized care and survival rates in determining the ranking.

The LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport was on the top ten list for "Spine Surgery in 2011." For the category of North Louisiana, it received the Spine Surgery Excellence Award.
