Final Medicare Psychiatric PPS Rules The final rule
covering the new PPS system was announced by CMS
on November 3, 2004. This new PPS system will impact
Medicare payments to our Adult Distinct Part Psychiatric
Units. The effective date for payment change is
January 1, 2005. The final rule is published in
the Federal Register dated November 15, 2004.
Medicare Outpatient Therapy Caps -

4541 of the Balanced Budget Act (BBA) set outpatient
therapy caps which are effective September 1, 2003.
