Electronic Data Interchange Transaction Code Sets

The transaction rule deadline, which mandates standards for transactions and code sets, was originally set for October 16, 2002.
On December 27th, 2002 President Bush signed the Administrative Simplification Compliance Act (ASCA), thereby enabling entities covered by HIPAA to delay compliance with the Transactions and Code Sets Rule by one full year until October 16, 2003. LSUHSC - HCSD meets all requirements for this rule.

Privacy

The compliance deadline for the privacy rule was April 14, 2003. LSUHSC - HCSD is implementing training programs, polices, and procedures to be compliant with this rule by the established date.

Security

The compliance deadline for the security rule was October 16, 2005. LSUHSC - HCSD has completed its gap assessment for the security rule.
