Shining Star for January 2012

Sherri Phelps 

Sherri started working at Lallie Kemp in 2001. She is currently a RN Program Coordinator in the Quality Assurance Department. Sherri’s main responsibility is to enter data into the QI project for Joint Commission & CMS. She is responsible abstracting charts as well.

When asked about her greatest accomplishment at LKMC she stated, “For being able to work in nearly every department and learning how each department differs as well as working together.”

Here is some little known information about Sherri. She was a cheerleader in high school and is from Mount Hermon. She always wanted to be an attorney but decided against it because there was too much history to learn. She is married, has 2 daughters and 1 nephew. She likes to dance, spend time with family and friends, especially doing water sports.

When asked about her reaction to being named a “Shining Star”, she said, “I was shocked, but very glad.” When you see Sherri, please congratulate her on being January’s Shining Star. 


Shining Star for February 2012

Mary Vuljoin 

Mary became an employee of Lallie Kemp in 2010, but was domiciled here during her employment with our previous contracted pharmacy group “Pharmacare” for nine (9) years. She is currently our “Pharmacy Director”. Mary's primary responsibility is to make sure that we are compliant with medication management and engage clinical staff to reach a common goal.

When asked about her greatest accomplishment at LKMC she stated, “Keeping my staff motivated and educated about our purpose here.” When asked what she likes most about her job, she said “The interaction I have with the staff that is essential to my job”.

Here is some little known information about Mary. She rides a “Harley”. She put herself through college by being a Spanish interpreter. She was 25 before she learned how to swim. She also wanted to be a calculus professor before deciding to become a Pharmacist. She is married, has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. She likes to listen to all types of music and travel. She is also a volunteer for the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival as well as ARC in Metairie.

When asked about her reaction to being named a “Shining Star”, she said, “I was humbled, very, very humbled.” When you see Mary, please congratulate her on being named February's “Shining Star”. 


Shining Star for March 2012

Johnny Mae Tate 

Johnny Mae started working at Lallie Kemp in 2007. She is currently a Custodian in the Housekeeping Department. Johnny’s main responsibility is to maintain the cleanliness of the area she works in; keeping it clean, fresh and smelling good.

When asked about what she likes most about her job she stated, “The people I work with and I enjoy meeting new people every day.” She also states that the reason she has been so successful here at LKMC is “Because I am a people person and I love to talk.”

In her time off she likes to go out to eat with friends and family and spend time with her mother. She also volunteers some of her time to help a few of the elderly people in her neighborhood.

When asked about her reaction to being named a “Shining Star”, she said, “I was shocked and surprised. It’s an honor to be recognized for the work you do. I think the whole Housekeeping department is a shining star, because we all work hard as a team in getting the job done. ” When you see Johnny Mae, please congratulate her on being March’s Shining Star.


Shining Star for April 2012

Marshunda Thomas 

Marshunda started working at Lallie Kemp in 2011. She is currently a HR Analyst in the Human Resources Department. Marshunda's main responsibilities consist of processing applications, hiring applicants, posting vacant positions and entering data into the PeopleSoft system.

When asked about what she likes most about her job she stated, “EVERYTHING!” She also states that the reason she has been so successful here at LKMC is “Because I am very personable and I believe in good employee/customer service.”

In her time off she likes to shop, dance, and attend functions that her son and daughter participate in. She is also active in her church and assists her husband Derek with coaching “bitty” basketball.

When asked about her reaction to being named a “Shining Star”, she said, “I was very surprised.” When you see Marshunda, please congratulate her on being April's Shining Star.
