Lallie Kemp Medical Center’s HIV Support Group is for people living with HIV, family and friends affected by HIV, and staff of AIDS service organizations and community health Centers. Peer support can help reduce depression and fear. It can help you understand what is happening to your body and to develop positive ways to deal with emotions and changes. Peer members of the group who have been living with HIV for many years can be good advisors. They “have been there too” and can empathize and relate. Peer support breaks down isolation and helps to link people to needed resources.
